CineWood Crux is a static, read-only publication: there are no accounts, sign-ups, or mobile apps. We collect very little, and only what's described below:

• Theme Preference: Whether you've chosen light or dark mode, stored in your browser's local storage so it's remembered on your next visit.
• Device & Log Information: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) generated automatically by any website you visit.
• Basic Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to understand which articles are read, never anything tied to your identity.

2. How We Use This Information

Everything we collect exists to make the site work correctly and to understand it better, nothing more:

• Site Functionality: To remember your theme preference between visits.
• Editorial Insight: To see which stories and sections readers find useful, so we can cover the right things.
• Security: To detect abuse (spam, scraping, malicious traffic) against the site.

3. Third-Party Services

We keep third-party dependencies minimal:

• Fonts: Our typefaces (Lora and Source Sans 3) are served from our own site, so no font request is made to Google or any other third party when you visit.
• Instagram Embeds: Some articles embed public Instagram posts. These are loaded from Instagram (Meta), which may set its own cookies under Meta's privacy policy when the post is displayed.
• YouTube Videos: Some articles include official trailers from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; the video then plays through YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) player under Google's privacy policy.
• No Ad Networks: CineWood Crux does not run third-party advertising or tracking pixels.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

• What We Store: Only your light/dark theme choice, saved locally in your browser and never sent to our servers.
• What We Don't Do: No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting.

5. Data Retention & Security

We retain server logs only as long as necessary for security and diagnostics, and take reasonable measures to protect the site, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Continued use of CineWood Crux after a change is posted here constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
