Bilal Abbas Khan

Inaya RizviBy Inaya Rizvi, Drama & Film Critic·Updated

Bilal Abbas Khan is the rare Pakistani drama hero who gets cast for range rather than looks alone. In ten years he has played a shy, socially awkward maths prodigy, a younger man who marries an older widow, a politician's son in disguise, a neighbourhood muezzin and an impulsive rich boy, and he has two Lux Style Awards from the critics' jury to show for it.

He is also one of the most searched-for actors in the country, and mostly for a question that has nothing to do with his work: whether he's married.

Is Bilal Abbas Khan married?

No. As of October 2026, Bilal Abbas Khan has no wife, and he has never confirmed a girlfriend. Every "Bilal Abbas Khan wife" picture doing the rounds comes from a drama, a shoot or fan edits.

The rumours follow his on-screen partners. After Ishq Murshid became a phenomenon, fans decided he and co-star Durefishan Saleem were secretly married. She shut that down in August 2025, calling them comfortable co-stars and adding, "I responded to the rumours by not responding at all." When pictures of him performing Hajj went viral in May 2026, social media spun a fresh round of wedding stories, this time involving Sajal Aly. None of it has been confirmed by him or anyone close to him.

What he has said himself is short and consistent. In a 2023 interview he said he wasn't seeing anyone, and added: "I do believe in love, I do believe in marriage. I think if something has to happen, it will eventually take place on its own accord." Beyond that, he keeps his private life private.

Bilal Abbas Khan's best dramas, ranked

His ratings and his best performances don't always line up, so this ranking is about the work, not the view counts:

  1. Pyar Ke Sadqay (2020, Hum TV). His best performance. As Abdullah, a shy, nerdy maths student who can barely hold a conversation, he plays awkwardness without ever making it a joke, and his scenes with Yumna Zaidi's chaotic Mahjabeen are the heart of the drama. It won him Best TV Actor from the critics at the 20th Lux Style Awards.
  2. Dobara (2021–22, Hum TV). The bravest choice of his career: Maahir, a carefree younger man who marries the widowed Mehrunnisa, played by Hadiqa Kiani. A storyline like that falls apart without a believable lead, and he makes it work. It earned him a second critics' Lux Style Award, even if the final stretch disappointed a lot of viewers.
  3. Ishq Murshid (2023–24, Hum TV). His biggest hit by a distance. A rich politician's son pretends to be a clerk to win over Durefishan Saleem's Shibra, and the romance hit 22.3 TRPs, Hum TV's highest, while the first episode passed 90 million YouTube views. It's a familiar formula, but he plays both sides of the double life with real ease, and it won him Best Actor at the 2025 Hum Awards.
  4. Mann Jogi (2024, Hum TV). Nine tight episodes written by Zafar Mairaj, about nikah halala. He plays Ibrahim, the gentle neighbourhood muezzin married off to Sabeena Farooq's Aaliya so a politician can take her back, who ends up becoming her real husband instead. Not easy viewing, and not meant to be. It's the closest Pakistani TV has come to a prestige miniseries, and his most adult work.
  5. O Rangreza (2017–18, Hum TV). The breakout, as Qasim, quietly in love with his headstrong cousin Sassi (Sajal Aly). He and Sajal won Best On-Screen Couple at the Hum Awards, and it's still one of the best-written dramas he has been part of.
  6. Cheekh (2019, ARY Digital). Playing Wajih, the entitled son of a powerful family who pushes a young woman off a rooftop, opposite Saba Qamar's crusading Mannat. Saba owns this drama, but his willingness to play someone this unlikeable this early in his career says a lot.
  7. Balaa (2018–19, ARY Digital). Opposite Ushna Shah's scheming Nigar, his Taimoor turns the tables in the second half. A ratings leader in its slot, and it brought him his first best actor awards from ARY.
  8. Kuch Ankahi (2023, ARY Digital). A light, likeable family drama that's really Sajal Aly's show. His Salman is charming but secondary.
  9. Meri Zindagi Hai Tu (2025–26, ARY Digital). Hugely popular, and his chemistry with Hania Aamir is the reason. But Kamyar is written as controlling and borderline stalkerish, and the drama keeps asking us to find that romantic. He plays it well; it's the character that doesn't hold up.

Not ranked: his early dramas from 2016 and 2017, and Dunk (2020).

Bilal Abbas Khan movies, web series and telefilms

For an actor this popular, his film list is short. He's made two feature films so far, and he has preferred to pick projects carefully rather than chase every release:

Bilal Abbas Khan's films
YearFilmRole
2017Thora Jee LeParty Khan
2021Khel Khel MeinSaad

Khel Khel Mein (2021), with Sajal Aly, is the one that counts. Nabeel Qureshi's drama about a university theatre group taking a play about the 1971 war to Dhaka split critics. Some found it moving, while others called it heavy-handed. It still swept the 21st Lux Style Awards, including Best Film Actor for him.

  • Web series: Ek Jhoothi Love Story (2020, ZEE5) and Abdullahpur Ka Devdas (2024, ZEE Zindagi), a period romance with Sarah Khan that also aired on Express Entertainment in 2026.
  • Telefilms: Aashiq Colony (2016), Mohabbat Hogayee Aakhir (2017), Aitebaar (2017), Weham (2018) and Laal (2019).

Bilal Abbas Khan and Sajal Aly

If there's one pairing people come back to, it's this one. Bilal and Sajal Aly have worked together on O Rangreza (2017), Khel Khel Mein (2021) and Kuch Ankahi (2023), and they're reuniting for Lahu, their fourth project. What makes them work is that neither plays to the other's fans: O Rangreza was her story, Khel Khel Mein was shared, and Kuch Ankahi was hers again, and he has never seemed bothered about being second-billed.

Bilal Abbas Khan's new drama: Lahu

His next drama is Lahu on Geo Entertainment, a revenge story written by Saqlain Abbas and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, with Sajal Aly opposite him and Ali Zafar in a key role. It was shot in northern Pakistan. No air date has been announced yet. It follows a deliberate break: after Meri Zindagi Hai Tu ended in March 2026, he stepped away from work and performed Hajj in May.

Age, family and education

Bilal was born on 4 June 1993 in Karachi. His father, Sohail Abbas, is a civil servant and former DSP in the Sindh Police, and his mother, Farhana Sohail, is a fashion designer. He has an elder sister and two brothers, one older and one younger.

He went to boarding school at Lawrence College in Murree, then studied marketing at SZABIST in Karachi, graduating in 2015, and trained at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA). He started out modelling in commercials before his first drama, Khushaal Susral, in 2016.
